TOP FIVE MOST EXPENSIVE PIZZA IN THE WORLD
Maze, London [Gordon Ramsey Restaurant] — $250
This pizza is topped with Italian onion puree with white truffle pasta, buffalo mozzarella, fontina cheese, pancetta, cep mushrooms, fresh herbs, and shaved with white truffle shavings that are added to the pie tableside. Now these truffles shavings are what jacks up the price, but the good thing is, as the chef is providing you tableside service, you can tell him how much truffle to put on, and how much to leave off. The more you add, the higher the cost.
New York City [Nino Bellisima] – $1,000
We’re only on number four, and we have already eclipsed the $1000 mark. Can you imagine how expensive number one will be? Anyway, this pizza was born on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It is 12 inches of thin crust joy topped with six types of caviar and two lobster tails. But just exactly how much are these guys profiting from such a pie? Well, this particular pizza costs $720 to make. That means every time the sell one they’re making $280. That is more than most people make in a day.
Haggis, Glasgow [Domenico Crolla Restaurant] – $4,200
This luxurious pie is named after the British super agent, James Bond. Known by all as the “Pizza Royale 007,” this pizza is sprinkled with 24-carat gold dust, topped with champagne-soaked caviar and lobster that is marinated in 100-year-old cognac.
Favitta’s Family Pizzeria, Henrietta New York – $8,200
This pie is known as the “Pizza for Lovers.” Seriously, $8,200 for a pizza? It better be sprinkled with diamonds. Wait a minute, it is sprinkled with diamonds, come on, really? This pizza doesn’t cost so much because of the ingredients, it cost so much because it comes with a diamond ring and a bottle of Dom Perignon. The price fluctuates depending on the size of the diamond. So gentleman, if you have a pizza loving girl out there, maybe this is the perfect way to pop the question.
Luis XIII, Salerno, Italy (Renato Viola Creation) – $12,000
The price tag on this one is straight ridiculous. The creation takes 72 hours to make because the dough is given ample time to rest before being made into the most expensive pie the world has ever known. It is topped with bufala mozzarella, three types of caviar, lobster from Norway and Cilento, and it is lightly dusted with hand picked grains of pink Australian sea-salt from the Murray River. The good thing is tha this pie can only be made in your home.
